Turbulence plugins, algorithm, parameter

Hello everyone,

I want to try using turbulence plugins to accelerate transition, but I have limited connection to turbulence plugins.

Do you have any relevant literature to learn about the algorithm or parameter introduction of the source stream plugin used in pyfr.

I know very little about the following parameters. Thank you all for your help!

[solver-plugin-turbulence]
avg-rho = 1.0
avg-u = 1.0
avg-mach = 1
turbulence-intensity = 1.0
turbulence-length-scale = 0.075
sigma = 0.7
centre = (2, 1, 0.0)
y-dim = 0.3
z-dim = 0.3
rot-axis = (0, 0, 1)
rot-angle = 0.0

Regards, Wgbb.

Hi Wgbb,

A good overview of the approach is available here:

https://doi.org/10.2514/1.J061046

Details of the parameters are provided here:

https://pyfr.readthedocs.io/en/latest/plugins/solver-plugin-turbulence.html

Let me know if something is unclear.

Peter

Hi p.vincent,

Thank you for your help.

This literature has helped me a lot to understand SEM!
